Dental tips to keep you smiling this Halloween season!
Tip #1: Eat treats with a meal
To avoid frequent exposure to acids and sugar, have children eat their treats after their meal. Frequent snacking can lead to an acidic mouth and, with the presence of sugar, can lead to dental cavities. This also prevents the kids from spoiling their dinner with treats!
Tip #2: Ditch the non-favourites
Set a small bag aside for treats that aren’t favourites to donate while they’re still ok to eat. This prevents unnecessary sugar exposure to your child's teeth and helps decrease waste!
Tip #3: Check your treats
Check your treats before the children to make sure they are safe and free from allergens your child may have.
Tip #4: Brush, floss, and rinse
To avoid sticky candy from being stuck in your child’s teeth all day, make sure to help them brush, floss, and rinse after treats to prevent cavities. If you’re out of the house and don’t have access to a brush and floss, then drinking with water after treats can help wash some of the sugars and acids in the meantime.
Tip #5: Come in for a checkup and cleaning
Ensure your child’s dental health with regular check ups and cleaning appointments.
